~Lavender is native to Europe, Africa and the Mediterranean. It was often represented in love, protection and purification rituals in folk traditions. Lavender’s primary medicinal use is as a nervine, as it relaxes the nervous system and is helpful for tension, agitation, and as a sleep aid. On an emotional level lavender can be effective for mood disorders helping to bring a more balanced peaceful state of mind. Lavender is muscle relaxant, antispasmodic, and helps with minor pains, strains, spasms, and tension headaches. Topically lavender is an excellent wound healer for burns, insect bites, acne, and has strong antiseptic properties.
