The Respiratory Formula is a comprehensive herbal approach to both acute and chronic concerns of both upper and lower respiratory health. The combination of ingredients act as a cough suppressant (wild cherry bark and elecampange), expectorant, soothing to irritated lung and throats, heal bronchial tissue, and have antiseptic qualities to eliminate unwanted pathogens

~Hyssop is native to Southern Europe, and the Middle East. In ancient Greece, Egypt, and Tibet it was one of the most powerful ritualistic purification herbs. Hyssop contains powerful antiseptic properties and kills viruses, bacteria, fungus, and parasites. In addition to cleansing the body and boosting the immune system, hyssop has an affinity for the respiratory tract. It helps clear congestion, soothes coughs and sore throats, clears infections, is anti-inflammatory, and may aid in asmatic conditions.

~Elderberry is native to Europe and North America depending on the species. In Native American folk practices the berries and flower were important natural remedies and believed to posses tonic affects on the body. Additionally, elderberry has a long history of use in respiratory conditions, such as coughs, and upper respiratory infections. Known to exhibit strong antiviral activity, elderberries are supportive of immune health. Additonally, elderberries are anti-inflammatory, possibly supportive of healthy blood sugar levels, and to support cardiovascular health.

~Horehound is native to North Africa, Asia and Europe, and had an important role as a sacred spiritual herb to Egyptians, as well an important medicinal herb to the Romans. In European folk medicine horehound was a very esteemed respiratory tonic used for difficulty breathing, coughs, or as an expectorant. Additionally, horehound was also used for digestive complaints, liver and gallbladder support, and antiseptic properties promoting healing and immune support.

~Elecampange is native to Asia and Europe, and is a celebrated respiratory tonic. In Indian Ayurvedic and Chinese medicine traditions elecampange was used for chronic lung conditions including asthma and bronchitis. The root is soothing to irritation in the lungs, acts as an expectorant, a cough suppressant, and has antibacterial action for infections of the respiratory track. Elecampane is also a digestive herb in that it contains prebiotics to nourish our own healthy microbiome, it enhances nutient absorption, and kills intestinal parasites.

~Wild Cherry Bark is native to eastern North America, and has a long history of use with Native American people as a general tonic for various health concerns including for respiratory, digestion, heart health, pain, and external wound healing. For respiratory complaints, wild cherry bark is one of the few herbs that can help spasmodic coughs by acting as a suppressant. Specifically indicated for dry conditions in the lungs but is also known to breakup up excess mucous as well.

~Mullein is native to Northern Africa, Asia and Europe and traditionally used for respiratory health and external wound healing. Generally consumed as a tea or smoked, mullein exhibits anti-inflammatory actions that soothe irritated lung tissue. It is employed for coughs, sore throats, as an expectorant, and has antimicrobial properties helpful for infections. For digestion, mullein eases bloating, stomach discomfort, and constipation. Applied topically mullein is made into a poultice and helps to heal burns, wounds, and other skin conditions.

~Yarrow is native to Europe, Asia, and North America. Named by the Greeks it was often employed for wounds and to stop bleeding both internally and externally. Due to yarrow’s anti-inflammatory properties it can be helpful in several conditions including respiratory health such as coughs, colds, flu, or sore throats. Yarrow boosts overall immunity and is antiviral, antifungal, and antibacterial. Additonally it is a pain reliever, increases cellular function, promotes blood flow, aids sleep, and is supportive for both pms and menopausal symptoms.

~Licorice is native to southern Asia, North Africa, and the Middle East and was one of the most prized herbal remedies in Chinese, Egyptian, Arabic, Greek, Indian, and Tibetan Medicine. Licorice helps regulate the immune system by increasing T Cells, and has strong antiviral, antibacterial and antifungal properties. Licorice supports overall respiratory conditions in that it is anti-inflammatory, helps soothe coughs, and helps to fight pathogens. Additonally, licorice is restoring to the adreal cortex aiding in increased energy and improves general debility and is often used in preparations for chronic infections.
