The Nourish Formula is a vinegar oxymel which incorporates raw apple cider vinegar with raw local honey and food-herb ingredients. Oxymels are one of the most ancient forms of extraction and preservation methods of medicine making dating back to Mesopotamia. The food-herb ingredients added to this formula help to reduce inflammation, increase energy and stamina, improve cognition and memory, aid digestion support, and contribute to healthy liver and lymphatic health.
~Raw apple cider vinegar is detoxifying to the body, provides live enzymes, friendly bacteria, and has cardiovascular and blood sugar balancing properties. Raw honey balances the acidity of the vinegar as a natural sweetening agent, as well as adding minerals, antioxidants, and antibacterial agents.
~Turmeric is native to India and Southeast Asia. In Ayurvedic medicine tumeric has been used for centuries to address joint pain, digestive issues, liver issues, and as a blood purifier. Turmeric has been shown in clinical applications to inactivate inflammatory enzymes, reducing the production of inflammatory cytokines. This allows the body to heal and lessens pain. It has many other purported benefits as a cardiovascular tonic, blood sugar regulator, supportive of kidney health, immune enhancer, antimicrobial, and as an antioxidant protecting cells from oxidative damage.
~Beets are native to the Mediterranean region and historically the Greeks and Romans used them as a blood tonic, for fevers, digestive complaints, and as an aphrodisiac. In other folk traditions beets were used for anemia as they are rich in iron. Beets contain nitrates which are converted by the body into nitric oxide which affects the cardiovascular system by lowering blood pressure. They also are known to increase exercise performance and stamina by improving blood flow and oxygen to muscles. Beets contain tryptophan and betaine, both substances that promote a feeling of well-being. Additionally, beets are supportive and detoxifying to the liver, anti-inflammatory, and improve digestive function
~Rosemary is native to the Mediterranean and was referenced as far back as 5000 BCE on ancient Sumerian cuneiform tablets. It became a powerful plant for protection, purification, healing, love, remembrance, and rituals associated with marriage and death. Medicinally, rosemary increases blood flow and oxygen to the brain and is useful for memory, focus, and mental fatigue. It improves the cardiovascular system by increasing circulation, strengthens blood vessels, and as a cardiac tonic. Rosemary reduces muscle spasms, is pain relieving, and acts as a anti-inflammatory. It aids poor digestion by reducing gas, bloating, and cramping. In liver health it promotes bile production/release, and digestion of fats. As a powerful antiseptic it contains antibacterial, antifungal, and anti-viral properties. It supports the overall immune system and helps combat colds, flu, and coughs.
~Lemon Verbena is native to South America and has been used in traditional folk medicine for it's anti-inflammatory properties, helping with pain, joint issues, as a muscle relaxant or for muscle recovery after exertion. Additionally, lemon verbena is helpful for the nervous system and helps to induce calm and promote better sleep. In Mexican folk traditions it was employed for emotional distress or sadness as it lifts the spirits. Lemon verbena aids digestion by reducing bloating, stomach cramps, heartburn, dispells intestinal worms, is antifungal and antibacterial, and when there is emotional distress that affects the digestive tract. It also aids in fat assimilation and is supportive of the liver, and has an affinity for the lungs which helps to clear sinus congestion.
~Ginger is native to Southeast Asia, and has been used for over 2000 years in Chinese, Ayurvedic, Arabic, and African folk medicine traditions for gastrointestinal issues, immunity, and pain. For digestion ginger helps with bloating, gas, diarrhea, and nausea. It also helps boost motility of the intestinal tract, is liver and kidney protective, and is a strong antibacterial, antifungal and antiviral. Oranges have a high source of vitamin C, which is a powerful antioxidant that builds the body's immune system.
~Grapefruit is native to Barbados and used in folk medicine in many parts of the world to treat coughs, cardiovadcular conditions, and headaches. Grapefruit is beneficial to the immune system with high amounts of Vitamin C. Grapefruit is also high in potassium which helps lower blood pressure, and flavonoids which are heart protective. Additionally, grapefruit is very supportive to liver health and helps with liver detoxification.
