Ingredients~ Hawthorn (berries, flower, leaves), wild roses, rose hips, motherwort, hibiscus, strawberries, alcohol (70%), glycerine, distilled water. 2 fluid ounces (60ml)

~ Hawthorn is rich in historical folk traditions and known for it's medicinal value as well as for its association with spirituality. Deeply respected and revered in many traditions throughout the world. Hawthorn was believed to have protective qualities against negative energies. Hawthorn is believed to open the spiritual and emotional heart centers. Taken in times of grief, emotional support, transition it reconnects us to our original purpose of feeling and expressing our true nature.

~Medicinally, Hawthorn was documented by Greek physicians and in ancient Chinese materia medica. In the early 1800s, American doctors were using it to treat circulatory disorders. The berries, leaves and flowers are known to be supportive of cardiovascular health. Research has documented these benefits as strengthening the heart muscle,  regulating blood pressure, improving circulation, and promoting healthy cholesterol levels. Additionally, Hawthorn is also used to enhance digestive and kidney function.

~ Rose medicine was first referenced in Mesopotamian cuneiform texts. Roses were important in many parts of the world including Egypt, Asia, Persia, Europe, and North America. The rose has been traditionally used in Ayurveda for thousands of years to soothe the mind, heart, and emotions. Rose nurtures the heart; physically and emotionally. Rose has a strong cardiovascular affinity, and helps to lower blood pressure, reduce cholesterol, improve blood circulation, and reduce the risk of heart disease. Emotionally, rose helps us heal from grief, loss, heartache, and those who are emotionally insecure.

~Motherwort originated from Central Asia and southeastern Europe, the ancient Greeks called motherwort, "lion's heart", and used it for emotional and physical problems of the heart. In China, it was used for longevity. Once naturalized to North America, First Nations people such as the Cherokee and Iroquois used motherwort for digestion, relaxation, and women's health issues.

Medicinally motherwort has several applications, and it’s main use is as a heart and cardiovascular tonic. It has a calming action on the heart relaxing the smooth muscles, and is a mild vasodilator helping to slow the heart beat or with palpitations. Where stress is directly affecting the heart is one of it's main indications.

Motherwort acts on the digestive tract and liver, helps support the nervous system, is anti-inflammatory, and antispasmodic. Tonifing to the uterus and balancing to women's hormonal changes including pms, menopause, and regulates menstruation.

~ Hibiscus has a long history of use in different parts of the world. In ancient Persia, they referred to it as "sour tea". In India it has historical use for regulating blood pressure. It's heart and cardiovascular protecting benefits are now reputed worldwide.

~ Also formulated with strawberries, hibiscus and rose. Strawberries were an important medicine by First Nations people. "The strawberry is shaped like a heart, and strawberries are known to our people as heart berries.” says Elder Lillian Pitawanakwat.
